Much ado about something. This is a feature documentary that I made in the early 2000s, exploring the theory that Shakespeare did not actually write the plays we attribute to him, that they came from a hidden hand, that of Christopher Marlowe.

It’s a theory which infuriates this most Shakespeare lovers, but the Marlovians  who appear in the film are extremely engaging and often  persuasive. In any case,  the puzzles about Shakespeare, the way he presents through the meagre historical record ,  traits that you would not attribute to a writer of that genius, make the  exploring why there is doubt,  itself interesting , especially since many people over so many years have voiced  their doubts.

Much ado about something played on the ABC, the BBC and PBS. He was an introductory clip. This before film is currently online but it shouldn’t be. You can buy copies of the film here in Australia from Ronin films.
